If You Like Goals, The Rangers Are The Team For You

The New York Rangers have lost their footing in the Metropolitan Division race and now sit nine points back of the first-place Capitals with the Penguins and Blue Jackets also blocking the way. With their grasp still firmly on one of the Eastern Conference Wild-Card spots, however, the Blue Shirts will have to get it done against the teams below them. They’ll travel to Detroit this evening to play their second-last game ever at the Joe Louis Arena, a place that’s given the Rangers fits.

SHARK BITES
  • The Rangers are 5-0 on the puckline in their last 5 road games.
  • The Redwings are 9-1 in their last 10 home games against the Rangers.
  • The Rangers last 7 games on the road have gone OVER.

Since the turn of the calendar, the Rangers OVER has been one of the bets in hockey. During the course of their last 12 games, the Rangers and their opponents are averaging 8.33 goals per outing and three matchups have had a closing betting total of more than 5.5. That’s happened just seven times this entire season so books are definitely taking notice of the lack of defense and goaltending that’s happening in Rangers’ games.

New York’s historic struggles in Detroit are probably not applicable for their game tonight. The Redwings are just one point out of last place in the East and unless something drastic happens, it looks like their long streak of making the playoffs is coming to an end.

The goaltender situation in Detroit is dire and Henrik Lundqvist’s production has fallen off the proverbial cliff this year. I’ll be targeting the OVER in my personal bets tonight and I suggest you do the same.
