NHL Midweek Betting Lines

Somebody has to be labeled as the favorite in sporting events, but in the NHL the parity is so great that underdog victories are a regular occurrence these days.

Tuesday night has a half-dozen games with plenty of interesting lines. Toronto is a -165 favorite as they tangle with the Florida Panthers at the Air Canada Centre - in a battle of teams going in opposite directions. Toronto has scored just four goals over three straight losses since opening the season on a four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Florida is sizzling after a slow start - winning three of four. At +145 the Panthers could provide a good NHL underdog bet over at Bovada today.

In the third edition of the Battle of Alberta it’s the slumping Oilers who will be +155 underdogs against the surging Calgary Flames, who have the oddsmakers' confidence as -175 favorites at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Anaheim (+130) will have its work cut out for them, as they face off on the road against the 5-2-0 Dallas Stars (-150). The Ducks have lost all five of their road contests against Western Conference teams this season, and have been outscored 16-7 over that stretch.

Vancouver will try to make it two wins in a row when they play host to the underdog Avalanche, who have dropped three of four – and were a lousy 1-4-1 against the Canucks last season. Colorado has allowed 10 goals in its past two games, thus OVER bettors might take a look at this one.

Buffalo has struggled at home so far this season - but is a solid 3-1 on the road. Philadelphia has a poor record at home, but will be favorites at -130 in this contest. Can the +110 underdog Sabres continue their strong play on the road and send underdog bettors to the payout window?

Phoenix will be +130 underdogs when they play Ottawa, who are favorites at -150. The matchup is between teams sitting in the basement of their respective divisions. OVER bettors could be tempted with both teams having among the league's worst GAA.

There are six more games on Wednesday; Washington will look to make it two in a row when they roll into Carolina to play the Hurricanes - who will most likely be home underdogs in this game. Atlanta tries to end a three-game losing skid when they go to New York to face the Rangers.

The New York Islanders and Canadiens will meet up at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Elsewhere, two of the leagues best teams will collide when Pittsburgh visits Tampa Bay. In a surprise matchup of two struggling teams the New Jersey Devils will play the San Jose Sharks. And Los Angeles will take on the favored Blackhawks in Chicago to round out the schedule on Wednesday.
