NHL Odds: Hawks vs. Jackets

Chicago is reeling in the goal-scoring department, but they have a chance to get back on track with a matchup against the struggling Blue Jackets in NHL betting action Friday night.

The Blackhawks are sitting in the final playoff position in the Western Conference, with Dallas and Calgary nipping at their heels. A win against the Blue Jackets would go a long way toward helping Chicago clinch that playoff berth.

Chicago has to burst out of their goal-scoring drought, and without Patrick Sharp the prospects of that happening are a little tougher. They have scored just 10 goals over a six-game stretch and Sharp's services are needed badly. The Blackhawks own a 3-2 advantage head-to-head in this season series.

The Blue Jackets lost a matchup in Washington on Thursday and now they're right back home to play this one against the Blackhawks. Rick Nash missed Thursday's game for Columbus with an undisclosed injury.

Although Chicago has struggled to score lately, they haven’t had those issues when meeting up with Columbus. The Blackhawks average four goals per game while the Blue Jackets are pocketing 3.5 goals per game when they play each other.

The two teams have sent OVER bettors to the payout window in seven of their previous 10 matchups with one another in totals betting.

Washington will have a chance to gain some ground in the race for top spot in the Eastern Conference when they face off against the visiting Buffalo Sabres in NHL betting action on Saturday.

Buffalo is unsure if Ryan Miller will be in the net for them this weekend, and they will be road underdogs against a Washington team that is a spectacular 22-8-8 at home this season. The Sabres are still looking to clinch a playoff berth.

Buffalo has just over half their wins on the road, and they are winners of four of the last five. The Capitals had lost two of three before Thursday night’s NHL betting action, and the Sabres could be poised for an upset with the severity of their playoff situation.

This is a matchup the Capitals will be looking forward to with great enthusiasm though, as they have won four of the last five head-to-head. That dominance should make them the popular choice on the NHL betting lines for this encounter.

Washington has gone 35-26 when labelled as favorites this season, while paying UNDER bettors in 55 of their 78 games in totals betting.
