NHL Weekend Betting: Preds Favorites

The Nashville Predators will be aiming to extend their early lead atop the Central Division when they visit the Calgary Flames on Friday, pegged as early 107/100 moneyline favorites.

The Predators have earned 14 points in their first nine games heading into the weekend, but their fast start has done little to move the club’s Stanley Cup odds which remain at a distant 40/1 in NHL futures betting at Bovada.

Nashville’s visit to Calgary is the second date on their current 11-day, six-game road swing through the Western Conference, the club’s longest road trip of the season. The Predators opened the trip with a 4-1 win over Edmonton as 10/13 moneyline favorites, and continue their journey on Sunday with a visit to Vancouver to take on the revitalized Canucks.

The Los Angeles Kings continue a road trip through the Eastern Conference on Friday, looking for their first road win of the season when they visit the Detroit Red Wings as early 25/27 road moneyline favorites in NHL online betting.

The defending Stanley Cup champions are winless in the first two of a five-game road trip that takes them to Carolina on Sunday. But despite the Kings’ struggles on the road, they remain a solid 8/1 bet at Bovada to repeat as Stanley Cup champs, trailing only the Chicago Blackhawks, who remain Stanley Cup favorites with odds of  7/1.

The Anaheim Ducks will be aiming to recover from a 2-0 loss to St. Louis on Thursday when they travel to Dallas on Friday to take on the Stars as slim 10/11 underdogs in NHL betting at Bovada.

The loss to the Blues was the Ducks’ second SU in their last three, following a streak of seven straight outright wins. Anaheim, who disposed of the Stars in six games in the first round of last spring’s NHL playoffs, end their current road trip in Colorado on Sunday,  where they will be looking to extend their current two-game SU winning streak over the Avs.

Fresh off a 5-4 shootout win over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night, the Blackhawks travel to Toronto on Saturday night for an Original Six matchup with the Leafs.

The Hawks are 4-1 SU in their last five visits to the Air Canada Centre, but were pounded 7-2 by the Leafs in their last visit to Toronto last December.
