NHL Weekend Odds: Isles are Streaking

The red-hot New York Islanders will be gunning for their fifth straight win on Friday night when they visit the Florida Panthers as 10/13 moneyline favorites in NHL online betting at Sportsbook.

Goaltender Jaroslav Halak has backstopped the Isles to back-to-back shutout wins over Arizona and Colorado in the club’s last two outings, and has surrendered just three goals total during New York’s current streak.

The Islanders move on to Tampa Bay on Saturday to take on the Lightning, losers to Chicago and San Jose this week, after riding a six-game SU winning streak.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to pad their lead in the Metropolitan Division when they face off against the streaking Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night as strong 20/29 road moneyline favorites at Sportsbook.

The Pens are coming off a brutal 5-0 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night which ended a seven-game SU win streak. Led by goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, the Penguins recorded three shutouts during their win streak, limiting opponents to just eight total goals.

Pittsburgh returns home on Saturday for a rematch with the Rangers. The Blueshirts followed up their win over the Penguins with a 4-3 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night, dropping their record to 7-6-3 on the season with just two SU wins in their last seven outings.

The Leafs, SU winners in their last three, make the short drive to Buffalo on Saturday to take on the basement-dwelling Sabres. The Buds head into the week with 20 points, five points back of the Montreal Canadiens, who grabbed top spot in the Atlantic Division with a 5-1 win over the Boston Bruins.

The Chicago Blackhawks renew an old rivalry this weekend when they travel to Detroit to take on the Red Wings as 10/13 moneyline favorites at the sportsbook at Sportsbook.

Chicago goes into Friday night’s Hawks vs. Wings game at Joe Louis Arena still pegged as the betting favorite at Sportsbook to win the 2015 Stanley Cup with odds of 7/1. The Blackhawks ended a skid of four losses in six games with recent wins over San Jose and Tampa Bay, and are 4-1 SU in their last five against Detroit.

The Wings play host to division rivals Montreal on Sunday. Detroit has lost four of their last five SU and dropped a 2-1 decision to the Habs earlier this season.
