Coming back down to earth – hard – Henrik Lundqvist was awful for the Rangers in Game 2, stopping just 28 of the Senators’ 34 shots, and it’s become abundantly clear that when Handsome Hank doesn’t perform, the Rangers don’t win. They’ll return to New York for Game 3 tonight looking to avoid a three-game hole but given some of the trends, the Sens may have the edge.
It’s starting to become comical to see the Sens be pegged underdogs every single contest despite proving night in and night out that they are capable of competing with every team in the NHL and especially with these New York Rangers. Ottawa went 16-9 straight up this season against other teams that made the playoffs in the Eastern Conference and they’ve gone 6-1 as a moneyline underdog this postseason.
Underdogs, in general, have been incredible in the playoffs, going 32-21 straight up to this point so I don’t think I’m going too far out on a limb when I say that Ottawa is a great gamble tonight at a line that opened with the Sens as +144 moneyline underdogs.
Craig Anderson is due to steal a game in this series and considering how he’s played in the Big Apple, that could easily happen in Game 3 against a squad that’s scored just six goals in its last three home games.
