Stanley Cup Finals Game 3: Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers
The Game: Florida Panthers vs Edmonton Oilers, Thursday, June 13, 2024
Teams | Puckline | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
Florida Panthers | +1.5 (-238) | O5.5 (-105) | +114 |
Edmonton Oilers | -1.5 (+195) | U5.5 (-115) | -135 |
Michel's Take: We've seen the UNDER hit in both games in this series. I know the xG has said otherwise, but Sergei Bobrovsky has done an outstanding job between the pipes for the Panthers stopping 50 of 51 shots and only allowing a single goal on 4.81 xG. An insane 3.81 goals saved above expected in the Finals.
Look, the UNDER has hit in more than just two games for Florida. They've seen the total go below the sportsbooks' prediction 11 times in their last 12 games (92%). In six of those 11 games, the total only reached three goals. That's well below the six goals necessary to hit the OVER.
Even a team like Edmonton, with all of its offensive firepower, has seen the total go below the total nine times in 12 games (75%). In one of those 12 games, the total pushed, so the OVER has only hit twice (17%).
I'm riding the UNDER tonight.
Pick: UNDER 5.5 (-115)
Josie's Take: There's a few betting blips on Florida's radar. The question mark hovering on Barkov's is slowly being erased as the postseason point-leader participated at practice. But, there's no guarantee he'll be dressed for the game or be in tip-top shape. Then, there's the storyline of Florida's flight having several delays causing them to land in Edmonton later than anticipated.
The heavy Conn Smythe favorite, Bobrovsky, is rocking a .954SV% against Edmonton this year and letting up just one goal this series has him a tough beast to beat. But expecting him to continue carrying his elite .980SV% this series and resting all faith in him could be a betting flaw.
There's no doubt Rogers Place will be buzzing, where the fellas are 34-11-5 this season. Then there's the fact that the Oilers average 4.00 GPG in Edmonton compared to 2.55 GPG from the visitors bench. Do I still think the Panthers are the better team? Yes. But a sweep in the Stanley Cup Finals hasn't happened since 1998 and I don't think Florida will get off that easy.
Pick: Oilers ML (-135)
