    The Philadelphia Flyers have dropped three of their last four, including two losses against the Bruins. The Flyers have lost all four of their games against the Bruins this season and have only won one of their last six against Boston overall. They have been outscored 15-9 by the Bruins this season.

    Despite their record overall in 2021 and spot in the standings (second in the East Division), the Flyers have struggled at times at both ends of the ice. The Flyers have had just 46.3% of all the scoring chances, for and against (SCF%), in their games this season which ranks 28th in the league. They also rank second-last in the league in high danger scoring chances as only the L.A. Kings have fewer.

    The goaltending hasn’t exactly been helping the cause either as starting goalie Carter Hart is 5-2-3 this year with a .902 save percentage.

    It has not been perfectly smooth for the Bruins this season either they rank 28th in high danger scoring chances this season, but they do rank 12th in the league this season in SCF%.

    But there is no doubting the quality of the top players on the team as both Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron have eighteen points in fifteen games this season while David Pastrnak has eleven points in eight games. The potency of that line is clearly the main reason for the success of the team as only two other forwards on the team have more than five points.

    As has been the case for several years now, the Bruins goalie tandem is another reason for the team’s place atop the standings. Tuukka Rask is 6-2-1 this season with a .909 save percentage and Jaroslav Halak is 4-1-1 with a .928.

    The Bruins have owned the Flyers this season and there is no reason that won’t continue. The Bruins have been the better team in all facets of the game so it should not be surprising that they are as heavily favored as they are.
