NHL Playoffs Player Props Today: Panthers vs Rangers Game 5

Last night's NHL playoff play props were all fails. Hintz was pointless, McDavid had 5 SOGs, and Bouchard didn't get any assists (he only scored a goal, pffft). Let's turn that around with three winning player prop bets for today's Game 5 between the Panthers and Rangers at MSG.

Here are three picks Josie Costigan and I firmly believe will hit tonight:

Mika Zibanejad Player Prop Today: O2.5 Shots (-110)

Zibanejad has figured out that now is probably a really good time to step up. Snapping two shots or less in over half of his playoff appearances, the 31-year-old has recorded OVER 2.5 shots in back-to-back outings. Game 4’s six-shot performance was a valiant effort but the Swede has yet to record a point this series. Unless he wants a whole city and fanbase furious with him, he better leave it all out on the ice tonight. Step one in beating Bobrovsky is shooting some pucks at him.

Carter Verhaeghe Player Prop Today: O0.5 Points (-175)

The Toronto, Islanders, and Lightning reject has been a star in these playoffs. He's on a five-game point streak and has only been held off the scoresheet four times in 15 playoff games.

In 13 career games against the Rangers (regular season and playoffs), Verhaeghe has 13 points. Most of that production has come this year.

He's got five points in three regular season games and six in four playoff games. An average of 1.6 per game this year. If you don't want to rely on the average, know that he's hit the scoresheet at least once in all seven games against New York this year. Seems like 0.57 units of free profit on this bet.

Aleksander Barkov Player Prop Today: U2.5 Shots (-115)

The Rangers don't allow a lot of shots on home ice in these playoffs. They've only given up more than 30 shots on home ice once, and that was in a double-OT thriller in Game 2 against Carolina.

And sure, Barkov hit the OVER on this prop in the last two games, but the Panthers got 37 and 40 shots in those games. He hit the UNDER when the Panthers were at MSG in this series. The Cats notably were held to 27 shots in both of those away games.
