NHL Playoffs Player Props Today: Oilers vs Stars Game 5

Yesterday, we only hit on one of our three NHL playoffs player prop picks (that's fun to say). That was taking UNDER 2.5 shots for Sasha Barkov. For tonight's Game 5 between the Edmonton Oilers and the Dallas Stars, Josie and I have three more player prop picks for yah.

Make sure to see our matchup page to get all the betting insights and trends for tonight's Game 5 in Dallas.

Jamie Benn Player Prop Today: OVER 0.5 Points (-120)

Benn is on a five-game point streak that pushes back to last series. Even more impressive, he’s earned two points in three straight. The 34-year-old is dialed in on returning to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2020, where his first championship was so close but swiped away from him. With nine points at American Airlines Center this postseason, I’m jumping on this betting train of Benn’s name continuing to be etched on the scoresheet.

Miro Hieskanen Player Prop Today: UNDER 2.5 SOG (-160)

The Oilers have done a good job of containing Heiskanen's excellent shot. Miro The Hero only has four shots on the net in this series and has yet to hit OVER 2.5 SOG. I feel like this line is thanks to hit stats against Colorado where he averaged 2.83 shots on net.

In these playoffs, Dallas has averaged fewer shots on net at home (26.3) than they have on the road (30). So it's not as if the Stars turn into Yosemite Sam just unloading shoots indiscriminately when at home. I don't believe Miro gets more than two shots on net.

Zach Hyman Player Prop Today: OVER 3.5 SOG (-125)

They don't ask you how but how many. Which is a good thing for Zach Hyman's player props. How many of his "shots" are just deflecting off his body from McDavid's throwing it towards the net?

Hyman has exceeded 3.5 shots three times in this series. He's got five shots in Game 4 and seven in Game 3. He's hit O3.5 SOG in 11 of his 16 playoff games (69%). He also did it 40 times during the regular season, so that's 51 times in 96 games (53%). I know that the second percentage might be low but the sample size is large enough to make up for it.
