NHL Shot Props Tonight - January 16

NHL Shot Prop Picks Tonight: Expect Werenski To Have A Big Night

With 13 games on the NHL schedule tonight, there are a lot of shot props to sift through to try and bet on, I'm here to help. Here are three shot props I'm sure will hit tonight across the NHL with my research and reasoning as to why they'll hit.

All shot prop odds are from Sportsbook.

Shot Prop 1: Shane Pinto O1.5 SOG (-170)

Capitals vs Senators Odds - 7:00 pm ET @ Canadian Tire Center

The Caps might be winning a lot lately, but they aren't winning the shot game getting outshot 297-249 in their last 10 games, in fact, their 656 Corsi-against in that time is the fourth-worst in the league. This bodes well for a Senators team with the seventh-best shot attempt to shot on target conversion rate in the same period. The Caps let the other team fire at will and Ottawa is one of the best at getting those shot attempts on the net, this bodes very well for a Sens shot prop bet tonight.

So I'm backing Shane Pinto, who is second in shots on goal for Ottawa in their last 10 games, to hit his shot prop tonight.

Pinto is seeing plenty of the puck recently putting up two or more shots on net six times with an average of 2.1 shots on goal in 10 games. And for some reason, Pinto finds more success when he's up against the Washington Capitals, averaging three shots in five career games against the Caps.

Shot Prop 2: Victor Hedman O2.5 SOG (+100)

Ducks vs Lightning Odds - 7:00 pm ET @ Amelie Arena

The Anaheim Ducks allow the most shots from defensemen in the league, averaging 9.63 per game. That number jumps to 10.8 shots per game when you look at their last 10 games. So what Tampa blueliner do we expect to see a lot of the puck and get his shots on net? You can't look any further than Victor Hedman, can you?

The Big Swede plays a lot of minutes, averaging 23:43 per game in his last seven, and gets the puck more than any other Tampa blueline with 55 shot attempts, the next closest defenseman for shot attempts is Darren Raddysh at 37.

With the Ducks letting defensemen tee up shots from the blue line, expect Hedman to hit his shot prop tonight, he's done so four times in his last seven games averaging 3.4 shots per game.

Shot Prop 3: Zack Werenski O3.5 SOG (+120)

Sharks vs Blue Jackets Odds - 7:00 pm ET @ Nationwide Arena

OVER 3.5 shots might seem like a high line, but it's not for Zack Werenski, the Blue Jackets defenseman has been a shooting machine lately with an insane 54 shots on net in his last 10 games, going OVER 3.5 shots eight times! Playing an insane average of 27:26 in those ten games certainly helps.

So can he hit OVER 3.5 shots tonight? Why not?

He's facing a Sharks side that has allowed the most shots per game at 31.8 and the second-most shots to defensemen at 9.53. Zack's splits against the Sharks are also favorable to the OVER tonight, he's put 13 shots on goal in his last three outings against San Jose, averaging 4.3 shots.

This game is perfectly poised to see Werenski exceed three shots on goal.
