Joe Thornton #19 and Erik Karlsson #65 of the San Jose Sharks walk out for their game against the St. Louis Blues in Game Two of the Western Conference Final during the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at SAP Center on May 13, 2019 in San Jose, California.

Stage is Set for Pivotal Game 5

The San Jose Sharks have won Game 5 through two series in the 2019 playoffs so far, and they’ll face their biggest test yet when Game 5 of the Western Conference final gets underway at SAP Center today. Sportsbooks opened the St. Louis Blues as +115 road underdogs with a total of 5.5.

Blues vs Sharks Game Center

Standout Stats

  • San Jose is 7-3 SU in front of its hometown fans and the Blues are an NHL playoff-best 6-2 SU on the road in the postseason.
  • Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington paved the way for his team in Game 4, as the rookie made 29 saves to set a franchise record with his 10th playoff victory.
  • Sharks defenseman Brent Burns has been a difference-maker at home in the postseason. Burns has 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 10 home games in the playoffs.
  • St. Louis was stuck in an 0-for-18 stretch on the power play entering Game 3 but converted twice on on five opportunities with the man advantage the past two games.
  • Home-ice advantage continues to be huge when the Blues and Sharks get together. In the previous nine clashes between the Western Conference clubs, the home team is 7-2 SU.
  • The Blues are 1-4 SU in their last five trips to SAP Center.

My best bet for Blues-Sharks

Sharks moneyline

While the Blues have been an excellent road team in the postseason, I think the Sharks get the job done at home today. San Jose hasn’t played its best hockey over the past two games but is in line for yet another huge performance in California.

I’m predicting a Sharks win in Game 5 and a Blues victory in Game 6 to send this series back to SAP Center for a crucial Game 7.

The Blues are 1-4 in their last five meetings with the Sharks in San Jose. The home team is 7-2 SU in the last nine meetings between the Sharks and Blues. The UNDER is 7-3-3 in the last 13 meetings between the Sharks and Blues.
