Jets, Blues Head Back to Winnipeg With Series Tied 2-2

The St. Louis Blues won the first two games of the series at the Bell MTS Place and look to secure a 3-2 series lead against the Winnipeg Jets in Game 5. The road team has won every game in this series, which doesn’t bode well for Winnipeg as it had home-ice advantage in the first round. Despite the road warrior trend, the Jets are a -125 favorite with the Blues coming back at +105 and the total opening at 5.5 goals.

Blues vs Jets Game Center

Standout Stats

  • As mentioned above, the road team has won every game of this series with St. Louis grabbing the first two victories at the Bell MTS Place and Winnipeg the last two games at the Enterprise Center. Three of the four games have been decided by one goal with the only outlier being a 6-3 Jets triumph in Game 3.
  • For the fifth straight game, the total has been set at 5.5. Games 1 and 4 went UNDER that number and the in-between contests went OVER. The average combined score has been bang on the total at 5.5.
  • Winnipeg has been absolutely terrific at maintaining puck possession and not allowing St. Louis to earn extra offensive opportunities. The Jets have committed 23 turnovers in the series, while the Blues have had 40 giveaways.
  • The Jets’ top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler has been terrorizing the Blues, with a combined six goals and 15 points through the first four games.
  • The biggest contributor to St. Louis’ berth in the playoffs was the performance by goaltender Jordan Binnington, but he’s had some issues this series as he has a 2.94 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck has been better with a 2.47 GAA and a .916 save percentage.
  • Winnipeg has had the advantage on the power plays thus far, going 3-for-10, while St. Louis has gone 3-for-14, but that’s been a lot of opportunities for the Blues.

My Best Bet for St. Louis vs Winnipeg Game 5

Winnipeg Moneyline

I think the Jets end the streak of the road team winning every game as they grab the series lead. The top line has been creating a lot of havoc for the Blues and if they manage to shut that unit down, Patrik Laine has also been competitive in this series, scoring three goals. Additionally, Binnington hasn’t been as strong as he was down the stretch and I think with a lot of pressure and the noise from Bell MTS Place, he’s going to crumble.
