Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Vegas is still perceived as the much better team according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark along with bettors who are wagering there heading into Game 4. The Golden Knights were bet up as high as -185 at some books as of Saturday night, knowing that this is essentially a must-win situation for them on the road.

Vegas has not lost three games in a row this postseason while Montreal has won at least three straight in each of its last two series, so a victory here would obviously give the home team a massive edge.

Vegas News & Notes

How the team comes out for Game 4 will go a long way towards showing if the Golden Knights are truly ready to hoist the Stanley Cup. They have battled adversity throughout the playoffs before emerging victorious versus both the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche in the first two rounds, so they know what it takes to move on in this spot.

While they are not there yet, a 2-1 series deficit is hardly anything to worry about at this stage of the playoffs. The biggest concern for them right now is finding the right player to team up with Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone on their top line. With Chandler Stephenson still out for the foreseeable future, they need to find someone to play with them.

Montreal News & Notes

The Canadiens are in perfect position heading into Game 4 as underdogs yet again, which is nothing new for them. Montreal has gone 6-1 in its last seven games as an underdog, and Carey Price is as good as a goaltender as any team could wish for in the playoffs.

Price has kept this team in each of the last two games by stopping 72-of-76 shots, including 43-of-45 in Game 3 at home. Vegas has struggled offensively at times, especially against goalies they have not faced in a while, and Price fits the bill here. As long as he continues to perform at the top of his game, the Habs will be tough to beat.

Betting Pick: OVER 5

Both goalies have been solid through the first three games of this series, but this should be the highest-scoring affair to date for both considering what is on the line for each team. The Golden Knights fired 45 shots on Price in Game 3 yet only managed to score two goals, and that is simply not enough to win games in these playoffs.

Instead, Vegas needs to show a sense of urgency in order to earn the victory while Montreal will be going for the kill. Vegas may or may not get the series-tying victory, but this team will go out with its guns blazing and should score at least three goals and maybe four or more in this spot.
