  • The San Jose Sharks return home to try and extend their series vs the Vegas Golden Knights tonight. The Sharks are down 3-2 to the Knights after dropping Game 5 to Vegas on Friday. San Jose will be amped to get back to the SAP Center, as its 3-1 SU in four games at home in the playoffs and have outscored their opponents 17-6 in those games. The Sharks opened as -135 favorites to force a decisive Game 7.

    The Sharks should feel confident going into Game 6 because if it wasn’t for an overtime goal in Game 3, San Jose would be undefeated at home in the postseason. The Sharks have playoff-tested veterans across the board on their roster but it’s been fifth-year forward Tomas Hertl who has been the added spark offensively for San Jose as he has six goals in the postseason with four of those markers at the Shark Tank. But to keep the Knights in check, it will come down to goaltender Martin Jones who has been a mixed bag in the playoffs. Jones is coming off a 34-save shutout in Game 4 at home but allowed four goals on 31 shots in Game 5 in Vegas. When you factor in that San Jose is 8-3 SU in their last 11 games at home, the signs may point to a Sharks triumph tonight.

    As for the Knights, they continue to shock the hockey world as they would be the first NHL expansion team to make the conference finals in the postseason with a win. Castoffs like Alex Tuch, was claimed in the expansion draft, may not have been getting the ice time for their former squads and that’s just fine by Vegas as he scored twice in Game 5 and has four goals in the playoffs. But the centerpiece of the Knights’ rebuild was goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who has been outstanding in the postseason with a 7-2 record and only surrendering 17 goals total in those contests.

    The total opened at 5.5 and the OVER may be the profitable angle. The OVER has hit in four of the last five games in this matchup with an average combined score of 6.6 goals per game.
