Phelps vs. Lochte on Olympic odds

Rival American swimmers Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will be back in the Olympic pool on Wednesday as they swim in the heats for the men's 200m individual medley in London.

Lochte, who won this race at the world championships in 2011, is the 4/9 favorite at Bovada to win the final of the event on Thursday, with Phelps pegged at 7/4 odds to take home the gold.

Phelps won this race in Beijing, when he beat Hungary's Laszlo Cseh and Lochte, and he also topped Lochte at this event at the United States' Olympic trials earlier in the year.

Thiago Pereira of Brazil (20/1), Cseh (25/1), and Markus Deibler of Germany (50/1) round out the top contenders to win the men's 200m individual medley at Bovada.

Lochte is also listed at 1/3 to win the men's 200m backstroke in London, with that event also getting underway on Wednesday and finishing up with the final on Thursday. Lochte enters that race as the defending world champion as well.

Japan's Ryosuke Irie (3/1) and the United States' Tyler Clary (10/1) are the other top contenders on the odds to win the men's 200m backstroke at Bovada.

Among the women's events in the pool on Wednesday is the 4x200m freestyle relay, with the United States a 5/9 favorite to win the gold medal in the race ahead of 5/2 Australia and 3/1 China.
