Rio 2016: Undefeated Argentina and Lithuania Do Battle in Men's Hoops

A pair of proud basketball nations will collide in Brazil tonight, as Lithuania and Argentina continue round-robin play in the men’s basketball portion of the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Shark Bites
  • Argentina has been brutal at the free throw line, shooting 67.4 percent from the charity stripe.
  • This game will very likely decide which team wins Group A.
  • Argentina has doubled Lithuania in fast break points per game (12).

The Lithuanians, who have been tabbed as 3-point favorites at sportsbooks, have had an up and down start to the tournament. Jonas Valanciunas and company knocked off Brazil in their Sportsbook game but struggled to get by Nigeria, as poor outside shooting plagued the team.

Led by the ageless Luis Scola, the Argentineans are coming off a well-earned triumph over Crotia. Scola finished the contest with 23 points and nine rebounds, while four other players scored in double digits. Argentina poured in 12 three-pointers against the Croats in an impressive offensive barrage.

If Lithuania can regain its scoring touch, the OVER 164.5 could look appealing. These teams are incredibly evenly matched, which means this game should be a highlight of the first round in Rio.
