Brexit Referendum Odds

On June 23 a referendum is being held to decide whether the United Kingdom should leave or remain in the European Union. If you think you know what’s going to happen and want to put some money on it, one online sportsbook has you covered.

Bovada is giving Great Britain a -400 shot to remain in the European Union, with a price of +300 to depart it.

In the 2015 general election, Prime Minister David Cameron promised to hold the vote if he was re-elected. There’s been a growing response from Conservative MPs and the UK Independence Party to gauge the interest of its citizens in the potential move, so the motion didn’t come as much of a surprise.

The UK previously voted to stay in the Union in 1975, but politicians across the pond are arguing things have changed a lot since then. “It is time for the British people to have their say,” Cameron recently said. “It is time to settle this European question in British politics.”

The European Union is an economic and political partnership involving 28 countries. The term “Brexit” is colloquially used to describe the country’s decision, merging the words Britain and exit into one.

Will Great Britain leave the European Union?

Odds as of June 20 at Bovada

  • Britain to stay in EU -400
  • Britain to leave EU +250
