Run It Once Launches Charity Tournament for Las Vegas Families

Charity Poker Tournament

While most sporting events around the world are on hold because of COVID-19, online poker has kept going and even expanded.

PokerStars recently held its largest Sunday Million in history and the World Series of Poker moved their circuit series online. Now, Run It Once has announced a charity poker tournament on Saturday, April 11.

Heads-up for Charity

The 32-player heads-up tournament features 16 top-name pros and 16 qualifiers. The money raised will go to the GiveDirectly COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. The fund helps low-income families in Las Vegas hurt by the coronavirus crisis.

Run It Once also teamed up with the Double Up Drive, which will, as its name implies, double up donations. Double Up Drive pledged $250,000 to match donations of up to $500. On top of that, Run It Once will donate  €10 for every player who plays a hand on Run It Once on Saturday.

The tournament will feature top high-stakes pros like Sam Greenwood, Phil Galfond and Daniel Dvoress. It’ll also feature poker personalities like David Tuchman, Jamie Kerstetter and Parker Talbot. There’s a chance you might be there too.

Two Ways to Qualify

There are two ways to qualify for the charity tournament by donating up until 23:59 UTC on Thursday. The eight people who make the biggest donations will earn spots in the tourney, and the other qualifier spots will be awarded randomly to eight people who make a donation of any amount.

If you do make it to the bracket and survive all five rounds of heads-up play, you’ll win access to Run It Once’s A-Game Poster Masterclass, as well as three months of their Elite Training Plan and their Vision GTO Trainer. You’ll also get a trophy and bragging rights that come with beating some of the top players in the world.

Watch live on Twitch

The tournament starts at 16:00 UTC and even if you don’t qualify, you can watch all the action live. Run It Once is streaming the tournament on their Twitch channel and they’ll have a trio of commentators in Joe Stapleton, David Tuchman and Henry Kilbane.

The tournament is single elimination and every player will start with 100 big blinds. The blinds do not go up, but there is a 30-minute time limit. If there’s no elimination in that time, then the player with the biggest stack advances to the next round.

To donate to the relief fund, you can go to GiveDirectly. And remember, they’re matching donations of up to $500 for the first $250,000. If you’re lucky or a big donor, then you’ll have a chance to go head-to-head with some of the best in the world.
