Whether it’s commentating with the UFC, podcasting or moderating presidential debates, it seems like everyone wants a piece of Joe Rogan. With an online petition getting traction, oddsmakers have released a betting prop for Rogan’s potential involvement in the 2020 presidential campaign.
Online sportsbook Sportsbook has unveiled a new betting prop for whether Joe Rogan will moderate a 2020 presidential debate with Yes coming in at +250 and No at -400.
Let’s dive into how this unfolded and why Rogan is being considered:
Rogan Gaining Steam Via Petition
Usually, when a www.change.org petition link comes up on your social media timeline, it’s something completely off the wall like changing and reshooting the last season of Game of Thrones or storming Area 51. This petition, while outlandish, doesn’t seem as far-fetched. It’s gained over 166,000 signatures as of this writing.
Joe Rogan has been around in the public eye since the ’90s with his appearances on television shows like Newsradio and the wildly popular Fear Factor. Since then, he’s transitioned to being a successful color commentator with the UFC, hosts a highly downloaded podcast and continues to be a sought-after standup comedian.
But it’s his interviews with current political figures that have given this story legs. Over the past couple of years, he has brought Democrats (Bernie Sanders, Andrew Yang) and Republicans (Candace Owens, Benjamin Shapiro) to his podcast studio in the Woodland Hills of Los Angeles for interviews. They’ve had constructive conversations about a range of topics like political policy, gun control and/or aliens.
I’m dubious that Rogan would be called upon by TV networks or political parties to actually moderate a presidential debate but he seems to be tabbed as a man of the people who appeals to both sides of the political coin. If I had to bet this prop, I’d go with No at -400. However, crazier things have happened before on the political trail (cough, cough…Trump) and to quote Dave Chappelle, “Oh Joe Rogan, you so crazy!”
- Yes +250
- No -400
