Argentina vs. South Korea - Current Match Odds

Argentina Preview | South Korea Preview

Bovada has Argentina as the favorite posted at -250 with South Korea at +675 with a draw at +375 and a goal total of 2.5.

Both teams won their opening match in Group B with Argentina beating Nigeria 1-0 and South Korea beating Greece 2-0. The South Koreans victory was especially impressive, as Greece was supposed to have one of the best defenses in the tournament.

The match could have easily been 3-0, as I though the ref blew a call in the penalty box that would have given South Korea a penalty shot.

The winner of this match will advance to the playoffs, while the loser will have to win their last group match to make it to the knockout phase.

This should be an exciting match, as each team will push forward on offense. Argentina has a great offense led by world-class strikers Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevéz, who looked solid in the win over Nigeria.

Argentina will need to tighten up their defense, which was a tad shaky in their match against Nigeria even though they still had a shutout. They killed Nigeria in terms of time of possession (65% to 35%) and if they do that in this match they will be hard to beat.

South Korea scored twice, did not allow Greece to score, and out-shot the Greeks 17 to 6, but Greece won the time of possession battle (52% to 48%). Manchester United’s Park Ji-Sung was great in the match with his pace and pressure on the opposing defense and even though he did not score he was keyed on by the Greek defense, which opened the field for the other players. Argentina will have to keep up with him, but not give space to the players up front surrounding him.

Argentina does not have the strongest defense and they will have to play well against a South Korean squad that heads into this match with a ton of confidence.

Argentina will push forward on offense and they have to be wary, as South Korea has a solid counter-attack with the wide fullback defensive formation they use.

South Korea has a solid team and they played great in their opening match, but Argentina is simply too strong and their offense will come alive in this game and show the world they are a legitimate threat to go all the way in South Africa. Argentina will win this match and they will advance to the playoffs in the process.
