Hannover in desperate need of three points as Wolfsburg visits

Hannover vs Wolfsburg Betting Odds Preview Bundesliga German soccer

Hannover 96 and Wolfsburg are set to meet for the second time in just 10 days when they lock horns in the Bundesliga on Friday night. Wolfsburg comfortably won 2-0 in the second round of the cup at the end of October, and Hannover will be desperate to avoid a repeat result as they look to climb the table and avoid relegation to the second tier.

  • Hannover has lost four of its last six league outings.
  • Wolfsburg has lost three of its last four league games.
  • Wolfsburg has won 12 of the last 24 meetings between these two teams.

Both sides struggling for form and confidence

Truth be told, neither Hannover nor Wolfsburg has been lighting up the Bundesliga of late. The Wolves can, however, take heart from their victory over Hannover – away from home, as well – in the cup last month, and three points here could see the side move up into the top half of the table, for the time being at least.

Hannover, meanwhile, has made a dreadful start to the domestic campaign and a relegation battle would appear to be in the cards. The side has won just one of its opening 10 games, collecting a paltry six points in the process, and is leaking goals at an alarming rate of over two per game.

While the betting is close, it is visitoring Wolfsburg that comes into this match as the slight favorite to pick up the win. You can back the Wolves to take all three points at +150, with Hannover priced at +180 to collect only its second league win of the season. A draw would appear to be the least likely outcome and is priced accordingly at +230.

Hannover likely to struggle once again

Hannover’s confidence will not only be low due to its poor form in the league, however. They were comfortably beaten by Wolfsburg in the cup less than two weeks ago and it will surely be playing on some players’ minds prior to kickoff.

We are therefore expecting Wolfsburg to record another win over this opponent, and while it is not an easy job trying to predict exact scorelines, a repeat of that 2-0 score is priced competitively at +1200 and looks worth backing given what happened last time these two teams met such a short while ago.

Such a result would then allow you to back UNDER 2.5 goals in the game, which is priced short at just -110, and a “No” to both teams scoring, which comes in at +105. You could also consider combo betting, which gives you the opportunity to select multiple outcomes at higher odds.

For example, a Wolfsburg win and a “No” to both teams scoring is at the much higher price of +350, while an away win and UNDER 2.5 goals in the game is higher still at +450. A total of two or three goals in the game is short at -105.

Hannover could concede early again

In its last home game in the Bundesliga – a 2-1 defeat against Augsburg on October 27 – Hannover conceded after only eight minutes. With Wolfsburg surely looking to take the initiative, we believe something similar could happen on Friday as well, and you can back OVER 0.5 goals in the first 10 minutes at +333, with Wolfsburg at +850 to be ahead within that period of time. Out of interest, Hannover is only slightly higher (+900) to take the lead themselves.

But despite some questionable recent league form of their own, we are expecting a relatively comfortable evening for Wolfsburg and their coach Bruno Labbadia. You can back the visitors to win this match to nil (without Hannover scoring a goal) at +350.

In addition, Wolfsburg is at +275 to score in both halves (as is Hannover) and +800 to actually win both halves – two feats they managed in that cup win over Hannover last month. The Wolves should climb into the top half after Friday night, while Hannover will be left staring into the abyss.
