Paco Alcacer Stuttgart vs Borussia Dortmund Betting Odds Preview Bundesliga soccer

Dortmund looks to extend lead atop Bundesliga away to bottom club Stuttgart

Stuttgart looks like it will need more than a minor miracle when it hosts Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon. Stuttgart has just one win and five points after seven games, while Borussia sits top of the table, unbeaten and with 17 points already on the board.

SHARK BITES
  • Paco Alcácer has scored six goals in just 81 minutes for Borussia Dortmund, a Bundesliga record.
  • Borussia Dortmund is scoring at a rate of 3.28 goals per game.
  • Stuttgart coach Markus Weinzierl has won just one of 10 matches against Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia running rampant

Right now it looks like no one can stop Borussia Dortmund, much less a club rooted to the foot of the table. Stuttgart has started this season in disastrous fashion and its only victory so far came in the sixth round, against an in-form Werder Bremen side, with Stuttgart emerging a 2-1 Sportsbook.

Werder Bremen is another side playing well and that is something that Stuttgart must cling to. They have already proven that, in front of their own fans, they can beat top-level opposition. Now they must beat the strongest side in the division on current form.

Borussia’s early-season numbers are incredible: five wins from seven games, 23 goals scored – a record for them at this stage of the season – no defeats, 17 points and first place in the league standings.

With that in mind, it is of little surprise that it is Dortmund that comes into this match as the clear favorite to take all three points. Borussia has won four games in a row across all competitions and is at just -134 to make it five this weekend, with home side Stuttgart out at +350 to get just its second league win of the season. A draw is priced in the middle at +275.

Goals could be in the cards

And while Borussia has been scoring for fun, they have also been less than sturdy at the back and are currently conceding at a rate of over a goal per game. They have conceded eight goals in seven games while Mainz, down in eighth place, can boast a better defensive record than the current league leaders.

That is why we are expecting plenty of goals in this one and, while it is never easy trying to predict the exact scoreline of any given game, a comfortable 3-1 win for visiting Borussia Dortmund is priced competitively at +1200. That in turn would allow you to back OVER 2.5 goals in the game, at -150, and both teams to score, also at short odds of -163, while combo bets will help you boost any potential winnings in this match.

For example, a Borussia win and both teams to score is at the higher price of +225, while a Dortmund victory and OVER 2.5 goals comes in shorter at +150. UNDER two goals in the match looks unlikely at +350, while two or three goals sees the price drop to +105 and three or more goals comes in at +162.

A game of two halves?

In their last match – a chaotic 4-3 win over Augsburg – Borussia Dortmund put on a second-half blitz to score four times in the final 28 minutes of the match, including an incredible 96th-minute Sportsbook. While we are not expecting anything quite that dramatic to happen twice in a row, Borussia is at just -225 to score in the second half, and the higher price of +150 to score in both halves.

When it comes to goals, there is one man who is terrorizing opposition defences in a Borussia shirt right now. Spanish striker Paco Alcácer is at just +137 to score at any time during this game, while you can back him at +500 to score either the first or last goal of the game – just as he did in that victory over Augsburg.

For Dortmund, it looks as if they are set to continue their upward trajectory under Lucien Favre. Stuttgart, on the other hand, has a relegation battle already on its hands.
