Latest Betting Notes: Manchester City
Manchester City easily dispatched Real Madrid in the semifinals, playing to a 1-1 draw in the first leg before cruising to a 4-0 victory in the second leg to win 5-1 on aggregate. Bernardo Silva scored a brace in the first half before Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez added goals in the second half to seal the win.
By all accounts, City has been the strongest club in the world this season, claiming its third straight English Premier League title and now looking like the favorite to add a Champions League title to their trophy case.
Erling Haaland didn’t score in the semifinals but leads all players in the competition with 12 goals in 10 games.
Latest Betting Notes: Internazionale
Inter had to go through a familiar rival in the semifinals in AC Milan but did so with ease, winning 3-0 on aggregate. Lautaro Martinez scored in the 74th minute of the second leg to give Inter the lone goal of the match and cement their position in the Champions League Final.
Martinez has been the main man up front for Internazionale this season with 21 goals in 38 matches in Serie A. The Argentine also has three goals in the Champions League, just one shy of Edin Dzeko for the club lead.
Inter will have their hands full as Manchester City leads the competition in goals conceded per game (0.42), while City’s goals scored per game (2.58) ranks a full goal above Inter (1.58).
The Keys to Victory: Manchester City
City has been playing like a well-oiled machine in this year’s Champions League as they rank first in goals scored (31) and near the top in goals against (5) despite playing 12 matches.
It sounds simple but if Manchester City just sticks to its style of possession football, they should be able to break down Inter. When they do break down the defense, City also boasts arguably the best finisher in the world in Haaland.
The Keys to Victory: Internazionale
Inter is definitely the weaker team on paper in this match and will likely have to rely on their defending while pouncing on the counterattack. City has held just under 60 percent possession in their matches, second only to Barcelona, while Inter is down at 46 percent.
If Internazionale does have one thing going for them, it’s that their defense has been stellar. They’ve recorded 10 clean sheets in 12 matches in the competition, with Andre Onana earning eight of them. Assuming Onana gets the call again in the final, he’ll need to be on top of his game to give Inter a fighting chance.
