  • Chelsea’s last loss came on December 14 at Leicester (2-1).
  • Willian scored in the 89th minute to give Chelsea a 1-0 win in this fixture last season.
  • Chelsea is expected to be without star Eden Hazard.

Chelsea looks to continue its ascension up the Barclays Premier League table as it hosts an Everton side hungry to collect three points after recording just one from its last three games.

The Blues’ horrible start has somewhat been forgotten since the appointment of Guus Hiddink as interim manager in the wake of the Jose Mourinho firing back in December. In the Dutchman’s four matches as boss at Stamford Bridge (not including the Sunderland game where he watched from the stands), Chelsea has yet to lose, drawing three times and defeating a very good Crystal Palace side 3-0.

Whether the goal is to finish in the Champions League spots or merely qualify for the un-sexy Europa League, HIddink and the Blues have a colossal task ahead of them. But that task gets easier with a win at home versus the Toffees Saturday.

Everton, currently sitting in 11th after two losses, two draws and one win in its last five, will be keen to find the back of the net after being held 0-0 at Manchester City midweek.

Star striker Romelu Lukaku will be eager to get back on the scoresheet after failing to score in his last two Premier League contests.

A hattrick from Steven Naismith fuelled a 3-1 Toffees’ win in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park back in September, but with Chelsea seemingly poised to make a late-season push toward the top six, a repeat of that contest doesn’t look likely.
