Euro 2020 Group C Odds Analysis

Netherlands (-240) will be quietly pleased with the draw. After failing to qualify for the previous edition of this tournament as well as the 2018 FIFA World Cup, it will need a smoother transition despite a relatively solid qualifying campaign. These Euro 2020 Group C odds would not have been as favorable had there been a more experienced European team in this group.

The battle for this group will likely be between Ukraine (+450) and Austria (+500). Both teams have had a memorable qualifying lead-up to the finals, which will hold them in good stead.

The story of the group will likely be North Macedonia (+2200). After a massive upset against Germany in qualification, North Macedonia will not be overly short of confidence.

Euro 2020 Group C Betting Tips

There aren’t any teams in Group C that will come close to Netherlands. There is just far too much confidence, skill, depth and quality in that squad along with experience of playing on a stage as big as this. With respect to the other teams, they won’t be able to compete on the same level as Netherlands when it comes to these factors.

Based on the Euro 2020 Group C betting odds, Netherlands’ implied probability to win the group, according to Odds Shark’s calculator, is over 70 percent.

Depending on your sportsbook, you might find Euro 2020 Group C betting markets available for early elimination. North Macedonia is a fair candidate for that unless there are remarkable performances in the early stages.

Euro 2020 Group C Value Picks

For your Euro 2020 Group C betting, the toughest question will be which team can challenge the Dutch squad? Austria and Ukraine are so close together from a matchup perspective. Let’s try to break down the factors to arrive at a conclusion.

Ukraine and Austria had differing routes to qualification. Austria was made to work hard in its group. However, the method in which Austria came through will provide a required boost of confidence. However, Ukraine was as close to flawless as possible in a group containing Portugal.

It could come down to the personnel in and around these two teams. Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko has been part of some successful squads previously. He will have some influential players at his disposal, including Roman Yaremchuk, who has been a pivotal offensive weapon.

Ukraine’s implied probability, according to its Euro 2020 Group C betting odds, is 18.18 percent. Austria isn’t too far behind, with an implied probability to win this group at 16.67 percent.

He was also the assistant manager to Bert van Marwijk in a successful 2010 World Cup campaign, which helped Netherlands reach the final. He took over as head coach of Netherlands in September last year.

We want to get possession quickly and, after winning the ball, play up top as quickly as possible. We want to be variable, flexible during games but most important is that we want good football and to score lots of goals.”

Quote from the manager: ”What can I tell you? I can’t, out of emotion, out of happiness,” Angelovski said after a win against Germany in qualifying. ”We made the North Macedonians proud and happy. This is like winning the European Championship. I came here with these guys because they promised to celebrate.”

Euro 2020 Group C Predictions

Let’s reverse-engineer the order of Group C. North Macedonia will have a lot of fun while scoring a few goals that spoil the party but not much more from a tangible standpoint. North Macedonia will finish fourth.

Plausibly, the deciding game in this group will be between Ukraine and Austria. They will meet at Arena Naţională in Bucharest on June 21. Mark your calendars because it’s likely to be one of the most intense games of the group stage. That will also be the first competitive meeting between Ukraine and Austria.

If that ends in a draw, it might come down to the team that handles Netherlands and North Macedonia better.

Which teams will advance?

Netherlands and …

Sitting on the fence is easy for this decision but I’d back Ukraine to finish second. It’s nowhere close to a foregone conclusion but on paper, there are a few factors that are pointing to Ukraine. One, Shevchenko. He should be able to hold Ukraine together under duress in the closing stages. Two, the scheduling. Ukraine will have Netherlands out of the way after the first matchday. That should allow Ukraine to adjust and move to the rest of the teams as required.

Austria will stay solid and compact in the middle of the pitch but there are concerns around its ability to transition into an offensive phase. Coach Foda has indicated that he wants to move seamlessly through the phases but there could be defensive gaps as a result.

“We want to play on the front foot, transition quickly, play in the direction of the opposition goal, and thankfully it worked well for us in the last few qualification games,” Foda said about Austria’s modus operandi. This is also a characteristic that could be exploited, particularly by a strong defensive team in Ukraine.

Our Euro 2020 Group C betting predictions are as follows: Netherlands to ease through in first, Ukraine to win the crucial moments to finish second, Austria to finish third and North Macedonia fourth.
