Atletico Madrid may have fallen out of the title race earlier than they anticipated, but they could still have a say in who makes it into the top four and next season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League. On Sunday afternoon, Atletico hosts Sevilla, a team looking for all three points as it tries to catch up with Getafe, which is currently fourth in the table.

Both sides trying to put recent losses behind them
There may be no more title race, but Atletico Madrid will nevertheless be trying to end the season on a high and put last week’s disastrous 3-0 loss at the hands of Espanyol behind them. Their recent home form has been excellent, however, with the club from the capital winning the last six league contests in front of its own fans.
Sevilla, by way of comparison, seems to be doing its best to not grab that fourth spot in the table. The side has lost three of its last four league matches, including the last two on the road, and confidence cannot be high within the group at what is now a crucial juncture in their season.
And while the betting is relatively close, it is still Atletico that comes in as the favorite to collect all three points. You can back the home side to win at +105, while Sevilla is out at +230 to do the same. A draw would appear to be the least likely outcome and is priced accordingly at +260.
Atletico to record narrow victory
While Sevilla is in desperate need of the points this weekend, we believe that home advantage could well be a decisive factor in this key fixture. It is never easy trying to predict the exact scoreline in a football match, but a narrow 2-1 win for Atletico comes in at +750 and may well be worth backing when you take into consideration just how strong Atletico has been on home soil over the last few months or so.
Such a result would then also allow you to back OVER 2.5 goals in the game, which is priced low at just -110, as well as both teams to score, which is at even shorter odds of -143. Therefore, in an attempt to give any potential winnings from this match a boost, you may wish to consider combo betting, which allows you to select multiple outcomes at higher odds.
For example, a combo bet of an Atletico win, coupled with both teams to score, is at the much higher price of +300, while a home victory and OVER 2.5 goals in the game comes in at +225. You may also bet on the total number of goals in the game, with UNDER two at +275, two or three dropping down to +100 and OVER three goals in the match rising up to +220.
Atletico to take control of proceedings
Given the fact they have home advantage and are looking to end the season on a positive note, we are expecting Atletico to grab this game by the scruff of the neck and seize the initiative. The side is at +225 to score in both halves, and given Sevilla’s attacking depth, they may well need to score more than one to make sure of the points.
However, it also cannot be forgotten that Atletico boasts the best defensive record in La Liga by some distance. It is not unthinkable that they can win this game to nil (without Sevilla scoring a goal), an outcome you can back at +275.
In terms of goalscorers, Antoine Griezmann will want to end his time at the club well, if the rumours he is to leave are true. The World Cup Sportsbook is at +105 to get on the scoresheet this weekend.
