Borja Baston Girona vs Alaves Betting Odds Preview La Liga soccer Spain

Alaves looks to continue La Liga title push away to Girona

Without a doubt, one of the surprise packages in Spain’s La Liga so far this season has been Alaves, which finds itself in fourth place, ahead of European champions Real Madrid, as we approach the halfway point in the campaign. On Saturday, Alaves heads to Girona knowing that a win could move them up into third place – temporarily, at least.

SHARK BITES
  • Girona is without a win in its last five La Liga outings.
  • Alaves is unbeaten in its last three league games.
  • Both sides have won a game apiece in two previous meetings.

Alaves looking to make it three wins in a row

Alaves continues to punch above its weight this season and, while the team may not be considered a genuine title contender, it is certainly capable of challenging for a place in the top four and a spot in next season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League.

The side is just two points behind Sevilla, having won half of its games this term. One worry, however, would be the lack of goals scored, and if they are to continue fighting in the upper echelons of the table, then their strike rate simply must improve.

Following a promising start to the season, Girona now looks to be on a downward spiral. The club remains in the top half of the table but is without a win in five league outings, and the slide must be arrested as soon as possible if they are not to continue slipping down the standings.

With home advantage, Girona comes into this match as the favorite to get back to winning ways. You can back the home side to take all three points at +125, while Alaves is out at +260 to do the same. A draw is priced in the middle at +210.

Alaves should edge close encounter

We are not expecting a huge number of goals in this one, but the more consistent form of the visitors should carry them through the game and deliver a vital three points in their quest to remain in the top four. It is of course never an easy task trying to predict the exact scoreline of a football match, but a narrow 1-0 win for the visitors comes in at +700, and may well be worth backing given the recent form of both sides.

Such a result would then allow you to back UNDER 2.5 goals in the game, which comes in short at just -188, as well as a “no” to both teams scoring, which is at the even lower odds of -143. Therefore, if you are looking to boost any potential earnings from this game, then you may wish to consider combo betting, which allows you to select multiple outcomes at higher odds.

For example, a combo bet of an Alaves win, coupled with  “no” to both teams scoring, is at the much higher price of +450, while an away victory and UNDER 2.5 goals in the game is higher still, at +500. You can also bet on the total number of goals in the game, with UNDER two goals priced at +162, two or three goals dropping down to +100 and OVER three goals in the game rocketing up to +350.

This game unlikely to be a classic

With Girona out of form and Alaves goal-shy, this is unlikely to be a game that will go down as a classic, and the odd goal should be enough to take all three points. We therefore suggest backing Alaves to win to nil (without Girona scoring a goal) at the price of +450.

The visitors are at +120 to win either half, while you can back them at the much higher odds of +500 if you think they will score in both halves. In terms of goal scorers, Borja Baston was on the scoresheet for Alaves against Valencia and will be hungry for more goals here.

You can back the attacker to score at any time at just +275. Meanwhile, he is out at +700 to net either the first or the last goal of the game.
