Levante looks to leapfrog Real Madrid in table with win over Real Sociedad

Enis Bradhi Levante vs Real Sociedad Betting Odds Preview La Liga Spain soccer

Only a 93rd-minute goal from Villarreal prevented Levante from making it five wins in a row in La Liga last time out and they will be keen to put that right when Real Sociedad comes to town on Friday night. Páco Lopez’s team is flying high at the moment and will be looking to extend its excellent run of form against a Real Sociedad side that has not managed a win in any of its last four games across all competitions.

  • Levante has scored in each of its last seven league games.
  • Real Sociedad has scored just one goal in its last five league outings.
  • Levante has won six of the last 16 meetings between these two teams.

Levante out to secure another three points

Levante has managed to move up to seventh in the table after winning four of its last five games and is within touching distance of the top of the table. The side is level on points with European champions Real Madrid and just three behind Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.

Real Sociedad, in stark contrast, has been struggling of late. A wretched run of just one win in their last six league encounters has seen the side slip down to 13th place in the standings, just four points above the dreaded relegation zone, leaking goals at a worrying rate of over a goal a game.

Nevertheless, it is the visitors Real Sociedad who come into this game as the slight favorites to take the points. You can back the visitors to get back to winning ways at +145, with Levante only slightly higher, at +190, to win its fifth game in six. A draw would appear to be the least likely outcome and is priced accordingly at +230.

Home side to edge a close encounter

On paper, these two teams look evenly matched from a technical standpoint, but there is simply no ignoring recent form and confidence in both camps. This is likely to be a closely fought affair won by the odd goal, and may at times resemble a chess match more than a game of football.

And while trying to predict the exact scoreline of any game can be a thankless task at times, a narrow 1-0 win for Levante is priced at +850. Such a result would then allow you to back UNDER 2.5 goals in the game, which comes in at +110, and a “No” to both teams scoring which is at +100.

It is also an idea to take combo betting into account, where you can select multiple outcomes, rather than just one, at higher odds. For example, a Levante win combined with a “No” to both teams scoring is at the much higher price of +400, while you can back a home win coupled with UNDER 2.5 goals in the game at even higher odds of +550.

Roger Martí to make the difference

If Levante is to take all three points in this clash, the difference could come down to Spanish forward Roger Martí. The 27-year-old is at +150 to score at any time, while you can back him to open the scoring at +500 – just as he did in Levante’s most recent home win in La Liga, against Leganes, on October 27.

Real Sociedad’s Brazil forward Willian José is at the same price as Martí, but given the team’s profligacy in front of goal recently, we are not expecting Real to make a breakthrough. Their disappointing recent record is sending them sliding down the table.

Despite the sides being evenly matched, we are expecting Levante to come out on top. You can back the home side to win to nil (without Real Sociedad scoring a goal) at +400, while Levante is at +275 to score in both halves and +900 to actually win both halves – again, as they managed in that recent home game against Leganes.

Levante has been the surprise package of the opening weeks of this La Liga season and it looks set to continue for the time being. Real Sociedad must do something to stop the rot, but they are likely to come up empty-handed on Friday night.
