Leicester’s Title Run Continues vs. NUFC

Riyad Mahrez Georginio Wijnaldum Leicester City Newcastle United Premier League

Leicester City’s title quest resumes Monday as the Foxes will look to collect all three points against a Newcastle side that is struggling to fight off relegation but will be debuting a high-profile manager to help the cause.

  • Newcastle has lost three straight and five of its last six in the Premier League.
  • Leicester won the reverse fixture 3-0 back on November 21
  • Leicester is unbeaten in its last 10 home games (6W, 4D) in the Premier League.

Leicester City is presently -163 in moneyline markets at online shop Bet365 while Newcastle is +500 and the Draw is +320. OVER 2.5 goals is currently tabbed at -138 while UNDER 2.5 goals is slotted at +108.

The Foxes will look to return their lead over Tottenham Hotspur to five points with a win over the Magpies. Tottenham defeated cellar-dwellers Aston Villa 2-0 at Villa Park Sunday to pull within two points. Furthermore, Tottenham is 90 minutes away from elimination in the Europa League which means they will have just Premier League matches to concentrate on down the stretch, putting the pressure on the Foxes for their run in.

Newcastle hired former Liverpool, Napoli and Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez and he’ll make his debut on the sideline Monday. He inherits a club that is 19th in the table and headed for relegation unless the Spanish gaffer can turn things around. The Magpies have just 24 points and a win would put them up to 17th out of the bottom three.

Relegation-bound clubs can be a tricky opponent at this stage of the season and the Foxes shouldn’t take Newcastle lightly. Benitez has a tough task ahead of him, but he has the pedigree to collect wins and guide the Magpies to safety.
