Liverpool Heads Home for First Match at Anfield This Year

Liverpool is set to host the defending Premier League champions this Saturday as Leicester City invades the pitch at Merseyside. The Reds were one of just two teams that were able to beat the Foxes in Premier League play last season and will be large betting favorites when they clash with Leicester this weekend.

  • Liverpool scored a total of 5 goals against Leicester in their 2 Premier League fixtures in 2014-15.
  • 2 of Liverpool’s 3 matches this season have gone UNDER a total of 2.5.
  • Anfield stadium was expanded by 8500 seats in the offseason, making the home-field advantage even greater.

This will be the first game Liverpool has played at Anfield this year as they’ve started their season with three road games. Last season, the Reds lost just five competitions on their home pitch but could only earn a draw against Leicester in friendly territory. Jurgen Klopp has some work to do with his backline as they, along with Stoke City and Watford, have allowed the most goals in the Premier League so far.

Leicester has been wholly unimpressive through their first three games and look far from the team they were in their magical 2014-15 season – maybe the deal they made with the devil was only good for one season. Goals have been few and far between for the Foxes so if they hope to have any success against Liverpool, someone will have to step up as the new N'Golo Kante to tighten Leicester up in the defending third.

Bovada has pegged Liverpool as the sizable -155 favorite with the Foxes coming back at +400. This could be the game when the Anfield club finally gets things going and I like the -1 spread bet on Liverpool. That line is being offered at a price of +110 so there is some good value here if the Reds can break through Leicester’s stout 4-4-2 formation as they did last season.
