PSG-Chelsea Highlights UEFA CL’s Return

Chelsea PSG Uefa Champions League

With the Premier League title a pipe dream at this point, winning the Champions League would be a real feather in Chelsea’s cap during the forgettable 2015-16 campaign. The Blues have a tough opponent in the Round of 16, however, as they travel to Paris to visit PSG Tuesday.

Shark Bites
  • The clubs played a 1-1 draw in Paris in last year’s Champions League campaign.
  • PSG is coming off a 0-0 draw versus Lille in their last Ligue 1 game over the weekend.
  • Chelsea defeated Newcastle 5-1 in their last Premier League game over the weekend.

At online book Bovada, PSG is currently -155 in moneyline markets while Chelsea is +450 and the Draw is +290. OVER 2.5 goals is +110 while UNDER 2.5 goals is -130. PSG is -1 in spread markets (+105) while Chelsea is +1 (-125).

Although toiling in the bottom half of the league table, Chelsea has really turned things around since manager Guus Hiddink has taken over from the ousted Jose Mourinho. The club is unbeaten in 11 matches (all competitions) under the Dutchman (12 overall) but this will be his first taste of the Champions League with this Chelsea side.

PSG is leading Ligue 1 by a whopping 24 points over second-placed Monaco and has not lost a game in France’s top flight. In fact, they have just one loss in all competitions this season, which was a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu back in November.

Owned by Qatar Sports Investments and seemingly built (with unlimited funds) to win the Champions League, silverware has eluded PSG in this tournament. On paper, this is one of European football’s best outfits but hosting a suddenly-confident Chelsea side could be a tough task for Les Parisiens.
