It is back to business in the big European leagues this week with the break for European championship qualifying over. Liverpool and Tottenham have had less than impressive starts to their Premier League campaigns and Manchester United looks to fend off an Everton squad that is unbeaten in their last five matches.
In Italy the surprising top two teams of Fiorentina and Inter Milan face tough tests this weekend. And it is not only surprising but shocking that after seven matches played in La Liga that Villareal and Celta Vigo are two of the top three teams and they square off this weekend.
Tottenham vs. Liverpool
Both of these squads are coming off a draw and could use three points. After a terrible start Tottenham is unbeaten in their last five matches and they had their three-match winning streak snapped with a draw in their last game. They sit eighth in the EPL table only one point clear of Liverpool. The Reds have struggled all season on the offensive end of the pitch and in eight league matches they only have eight goals.
Bet365 has Tottenham as the home favorite at +140 with Liverpool at +188 and a draw line at +250. [Matchup Report]
Everton vs. Manchester United
Can Man U rebound? Manchester United had won three straight matches, but were embarrassed in their last match losing to their cross-town rival Arsenal on the road. They hit the road again this weekend to face an Everton squad that has two wins and three draws in their last five matches. Man U is in third place in the league table with Everton three points back and after eight matches both clubs have scored 12 goals and conceded eight.
Even on the road Man U is the rather big betting favorite at Bet365 with odds of +130 and Everton at +230 with a draw line of +220. [Matchup Report]
Inter Milan vs. Juventus
Inter Milan looks to get back in the win column with a victory over the Serie A champions. Inter got off to a great start this season, but they were recently overtaken for first place in the Serie A table by Fiorentina since they have a loss and a draw in their last two matches. Juve continues their puzzling season with only two wins in seven matches and they had not won their previous two matches before a 3-1 home win in their last match. Inter is in second place in the league table eight points clear of a Juve squad that has only scored nine goals in seven league matches.
Bet365 has Inter as the slight betting favorite at +163 with Juve at +175 and a draw line of +210. [Matchup Report]
Napoli vs. Fiorentina
Fiorentina is the surprising leader in the Serie A table and they are riding a five-match winning streak. They have only conceded one goal in their last four matches overall and for the season they have only conceded four goals in seven matches. Napoli is six points back of Fiorentina and they are unbeaten in their last five matches with wins in their last two. The key matchup in this encounter may be Fiorentina’s defense facing a Napoli attack that has scored the second most goals in the league.
Napoli is the big betting home favorite at Bet365 with posted odds of -143 with Fiorentina at +375 and a draw line of +275. [Matchup Report]
Villareal vs. Celta Vigo
Shocking squads go head to head. Hard to believe that Villiarea is atop the La Liga table with 16 points and they are one point clear of Real Madrid and two points clear of Celta Vigo. However, they lost their last match, which snapped their five-game winning streak. Celta has scored more goals than Villareal on the season, but they also have conceded more as well. They are unbeaten in their last five matches, but have played to two straight draws.
Villareal is posted at +100 at Bet365 with Celta Vigo at +300 and a draw line at +230. [Matchup Report]
