Spain is a one-goal favorite at SBG Global with the total at 2.5 under. Spain is also a big favorite on the three-way line for this quarterfinal match on Saturday that can be seen on ABC. They are -240, Paraguay is +600 and the Draw is +275 at Bovada. This will be the first time in history that Paraguay has made it to the quarterfinals in the World Cup betting.

They didn’t do much against Japan in the round of 16 but they scored all five times in the penalty shootout to advance. Paraguay has a very good defense but they really struggle to score goals. Portugal has an even better defense than Paraguay but eventually it cracked against Spain. It would seem likely that Paraguay’s defense will eventually give up a goal against the Spanish pressure.

Paraguay will look to wear down Spain and hope for a mistake. Spain got a goal from David Villa to defeat Portugal in their last match to reach the quarterfinals. Spain has not been that impressive on offense but against Portugal they did look better as they dominated that match and easily could have had three or four goals.

Spain’s only injury concern is Raul Albiol who probably is out for the remainder of the World Cup odds. Spain does have an issue with Fernando Torres who has not played well in the World Cup. The question will be whether or not Torres even gets the start or whether Spain goes with Fernando Llorente who played far better than Torres when he came in as a sub against Portugal.

With Paraguay and Spain allowing a combined total of three goals in this year’s World Cup, this match on Saturday should be low scoring. Spain has some talented strikers including Villa, but they don’t figure to get a lot of chances against a Paraguay defense that has allowed only one goal in their four matches.
