Argentina Suffers Stunning Defeat To Saudi Arabia

Argentina fell 2-1 to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in what has been deemed one of the biggest shocks in the history of the World Cup. The Argentines came into the tournament as one of the favorites, having not lost since July 2019 – a span of 36 matches. Argentina went ahead thanks to a penalty kick from Lionel Messi but quick goals from Saleh Ah-Shehri and Salem Al-Dawsari in a span of five minutes gave the Saudis the win.

The Argentines will have to refocus and regroup heading into their next match against Mexico, which on paper should be an even tougher challenge. If there’s one thing on their side, it’s history: including friendlies, Argentina has not lost to Mexico in 10 straight matches dating back to July 2004.

Ochoa Helps Mexico Earn A Point Against Poland

Mexico played to a 0-0 draw against Poland in its first game of the World Cup on Tuesday. While the Mexicans dominated the flow of the match, they failed to break down a sturdy Polish defense. It was the Poles who had the best chance of the match as Robert Lewandowski, the greatest Polish player of all time, stepped up for a penalty kick in the second half. He was met by another soccer legend, though, as Guillermo Ochoa made the save to earn his team a point.

While the Mexicans failed to score in their Sportsbook match, they have no shortage of goal threats. Raul Jimenez is one of the better strikers in the Premier League while Hirving Lozano has had an excellent season with Napoli in Serie A – the duo should be able to manufacture some offense against Argentina.

Argentina vs Mexico Game Prop: Argentina To Win By 2 Goals (+370)

Despite the wobble in their first match of the World Cup, Argentina is still one of the best teams in the tournament and the clear favorite over Mexico. The Argentines are 3-1-0 against Mexico since 2015, with two of those victories coming by a 2-0 margin. Assuming Argentina can regroup and return to form, a two-goal win seems like the most likely outcome.

Argentina: Keys To Victory

While Messi is getting up there in age at 35, there’s no doubt that this is still his team. And in what could be his last World Cup, Messi will want to make it a good one. While he scored a penalty against Saudi Arabia, he’ll want to make better on his chances from open play – as will the rest of the squad.

Mexico: Keys To Victory

Like their opponent, Mexico will want to do better in attack in their next match. Unlike the Argentines, though, the Mexicans did not create a ton of quality chances in their Sportsbook game. If Mexico is going to win or at least get a point in this one, they’ll need to find a way to create some chances and put one or two home.
