The big dogs in the Premier League are once again barking and the juggernaut of Manchester United may be barking the loudest. The Red Devils have made some huge moves leading up to the 2016-17 season, including their purchase of Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimović.
Online shop [custom:bodog-link] has released some special props based on this year’s transfers and one of my favorites is whether or not Ibrahimović will score OVER or UNDER 14.5 goals.
The bookmakers nailed this total in my opinion even though Zlatan scored 38 goals for PSG in league competition last year. Ibrah is now 34 years old and will not be playing significant minutes for his new English squad. Younger strikers like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will more than likely see the majority of minutes and the big Swede should be used in more of a supplementary role.
Last season, Harry Kane led the league with 25 goals while playing huge minutes for Tottenham and Jermain Defoe placed eighth with 15 goals. Based on those numbers, 14 goals from Ibrah – which would cash the under – would be good enough for ninth place in the EPL goal scoring race. With the limited minutes that are probably in Zlatan’s future, I just can’t see it happening.
Another point, no Man United player scored more than 11 (Martial) last season.
