2015 SuperContest: Week 16 Lines Out

Two NFL games involving AFC South teams remained off the board at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark as of Wednesday, but that did not stop the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook from posting odds on them for the Week 16 SuperContest Card.

Contestants in the world’s largest football handicapping contest need to make their picks as early as Thursday if they are including the Thursday Night Football game, making it a requirement to have the NFL odds available for every game on Wednesday.

Jaguars Road Favorites Against the Saints

With New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees possibly out on Sunday due to a foot injury, the Jacksonville Jaguars (5-9) are 2.5-point road favorites in that matchup. The Saints (5-9) are home underdogs for the third time this season and have covered the spread previously against the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers. New Orleans had not been a home underdog before that since 2012.

The AFC South-leading Houston Texans (7-7) are also 4-point road favorites visiting the Tennessee Titans (3-11), who have lost 11 of their last 12 home games. The Texans have gone 8-1 against the spread in the past nine meetings but still do not know if quarterback Brian Hoyer will be cleared to play after going through the league’s mandated concussion protocol.

If Hoyer can’t go, that means third-stringer Brandon Weeden will start in his place because backup T.J. Yates tore his ACL in last week’s 16-10 road victory versus the Indianapolis Colts that gave the team the division lead. The Titans are also without starting quarterback Marcus Mariota due to a knee injury.

Raiders favored vs Chargers on Thursday

Week 16 will kick off with an AFC West rivalry game on Thursday Night Football as the San Diego Chargers (4-10) visit the Oakland Raiders (6-10), who are listed as 6.5-point home favorites on the SuperContest card. The visiting team is 7-3 ATS in this matchup, and the Raiders are just 1-4 straight-up and ATS in their last five games as favorites.

The rest of Week 16’s primetime games include the Washington Redskins (7-7) visiting the Philadelphia Eagles (6-8) on Saturday, the Minnesota Vikings (9-5) hosting the New York Giants (6-8) on Sunday and the Cincinnati Bengals (11-3) squaring off against the Denver Broncos (10-4) on Monday. The Eagles (-3), Vikings (-4.5) and Broncos (-3.5) are all home favorites on the SuperContest card and can move closer to the playoffs with wins.
