Antunes, Schalter Continue to Fight for Team OddsShark Lead in Week 14

In Week 13, 19 of the 25 Team OddsShark members posted a winning mark on their five NFL picks in the 2017 SuperContest at the Westgate SuperBook. While it will be very difficult to top that performance, the team is ready to tackle the last four weeks of the season, especially the top two contestants – Paulo Antunes and Ty Schalter.

Team OS leader Antunes is currently tied for 22nd overall among the record field of 2,748 entrants with 41.5 points, and Schalter is only one point behind him in a tie for 41st. The grand prize is an all-time record of more than $1.3 million, something both have a chance to win if they can just make up some ground by the end of Week 17.

Until then, the focus will be on the current week that has three pick’em games on the card and seven other games with point spreads of three points or less. Needless to say, Week 14 is the one of the biggest of the season that should separate contenders from pretenders and take us one step closer to determining who will win the SuperContest.

In the group, three teams tied for the most popular pick, the Arizona Cardinals (+3), Minnesota Vikings (-2.5) and Los Angeles Chargers (-6). Each of them were selected by eight members, and Antunes managed to avoid all of them somehow. His plays on his Bossa Nova Kid entry include the Cincinnati Bengals (-6.5), Green Bay Packers (-3), Houston Texans (-3), Philadelphia Eagles (+2) and Pittsburgh Steelers (-5). Antunes has gone 9-0-1 the past two weeks after going 3-7 in the previous two. The Eagles are the most popular pick in the SuperContest overall, chosen by 782 entrants (28 percent).

Like Antunes, Schalter is riding with a majority of favorites, including the Vikings, Buffalo Bills (-3) and Dallas Cowboys (-4). However, he also has a couple road teams that simply need to win their respective games in the Detroit Lions and New York Jets. Of those plays, only Minnesota ranks as one of the Top 5 consensus picks overall, which have gone an impressive 12-3 over the past three weeks to improve to 30-35 this year.
