Jets a Surprising Top 5 Pick of Team OddsShark in Week 13 of Super Contest

With just five weeks to go in the 2017 Super Contest at the Westgate SuperBook, it is time for the cream of the crop to start rising to the top and the contenders to pull away from the pretenders as they make a run at the record grand prize of over $1.3 million. Clichés aside, this is a turning point for many of the 2,748 contestants in the world’s largest football handicapping contest while others are looking forward to next season.

For the top two members of Team OddsShark, the dream of winning money is very real, with Ty Schalter and Paulo Antunes currently sitting among the Top 50 places that will be paid out at the end of the year. They are each winning at a 61 percent clip with 36.5 out of a possible 60 points through the first 12 weeks. The overall leader has 42.5 points after scoring an early win with the Dallas Cowboys in the Thursday Night Football game.

Of the team’s five most popular plays in Week 13, they share four with the overall Top 5 consensus picks that have been worth fading for the most part with a 25-35 mark against the spread. However, the consensus has gone 7-3 the past two weeks and caught fire at the end of last season. That said, Schalter and Antunes are in agreement on two of the top selections shared by both groups, which are the New England Patriots as 8.5-point road favorites visiting the Buffalo Bills on Sunday plus the Green Bay Packers as 1.5-point home underdogs hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Packers are the most selected team in the entire Super Contest in Week 13, picked by 1,016 entrants (37 percent), including 10 team members. Meanwhile, the Patriots rank fifth overall but first by the team, with 11 in the group choosing them. In fact, the lone team the group also selected 10 times that did not rank among the Top 5 consensus picks overall is the New York Jets as 3.5-point home dogs versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Neither Schalter nor Antunes picked the Jets or Chiefs in that matchup, and they are not on opposite sides of any game this week.
