Kostos Continues to Lead Team OddsShark After Week 2 of SuperContest

As noted heading into Week 2 of the SuperContest at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, CBS Sports host Nick Kostos is not one to agree with the betting public, as he has been very successful fading them instead. This has been one of his key strategies through the first two weeks of the world’s largest football handicapping contest, leading to a pair of 4-1 performances to top Team OddsShark and putting him into a tie for 23rd overall in the record field of 1,854 entrants.

But this was not a good week for most members of Team OddsShark, who tended to go along with the most popular consensus plays more often than not without realizing it. The Top 5 consensus NFL picks in the SuperContest went 0-5, led by the Seattle Seahawks, who were chosen by 541 entrants and lost 9-3 to the Los Angeles Rams as 4.5-point road favorites. The Green Bay Packers (-2.5) were also listed as road chalk visiting the Minnesota Vikings and fell 17-14 with 507 contestants picking them.

Just five other Team OddsShark members of the 24 overall besides Kostos managed to put together winning weeks at 3-2. Three of them are tied for second at 6-4, including America’s Line founder Ben Eckstein, OddsShark’s very own Jon Campbell and podcaster extraordinaire PFT Commenter from Barstool Sports. Unfortunately, Barstool’s other two contestants Dan Katz (a.k.a. BarstoolBigCat) and Hank Lockwood have one less win combined than PFT Commenter through the first two weeks.

The other two team members who went 3-2 in Week 2 were Rob Pizzola and Anthony Riccobono, who is one of nine tied for ninth. Pizzola moved up into a tie for fifth at 5-5, joining Joe Ostrowski, Matt Ufford and Pete Prisco. Last year’s Team OddsShark winner David Fucillo turned in another disappointing week, going 1-4 again to fall to 2-8 overall. Fucillo is tied for last in the group with Katz, Clay Travis and Gustavo Villani.

Only two contestants have gone a perfect 10-0 so far with 20 more tied at 9-1. To view updated SuperContest Standings for the entire field, click here.
