Mr. Monday Night Leads Team OddsShark After Week 1 of SuperContest

CBS Sports host Nick Kostos was known as Mr. Monday Night for his outstanding record picking Monday Night Football games last year for the network. However, the one loss Kostos suffered for Team OddsShark in Week 1 of the SuperContest at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook happened to be in one of the two games played in the MNF doubleheader as he went 4-1 overall to top the very early group standings.

Kostos had the Washington Redskins as 3-point home underdogs against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who won their season opener 38-16 behind a dominant offensive performance. But Kostos also had the San Francisco 49ers as 2.5-point home dogs versus the Los Angeles Rams, and that one turned out to be an easy 28-0 winner.

The rest of Team OddsShark did not fare as well, with half of the members finishing with a losing record. On the bright side, half the team had a winning record too, including 11 who went 3-2. Among them were America’s Line founder Ben Eckstein, Kostos’ colleague at CBS Sports Pete Prisco, UFC commentator Jon Anik and OddsShark’s very own Jon Campbell. Last year’s Team OddsShark champ David Fucillo was not in that group, going a disappointing 1-4 along with the OddsShark Super Computer. Fox Sports 1 personality Clay Travis outdid everyone, though, as the only one to go 0-5.

In the SuperContest overall, 78 entrants went 5-0, down significantly from last year when 108 had a perfect record after the first week. That is also a bit surprising considering the SuperContest field increased to 1,854 in 2016 from 1,727 in 2015.
