Near-Perfect Mark Puts Bossa Nova Kid Into Tie Atop Team OS Leaderboard

After posting back-to-back losing records for the first time this season, Paulo Antunes bounced back in a big way for Team OddsShark in Week 12 of the Super Contest with a 4-0-1 mark. The Bossa Nova Kid nearly had a perfect 5-0 record but walked away with a push on the Baltimore Ravens as 7-point home favorites against the Houston Texans in their 23-16 win on Monday Night Football. Six others on the team also picked up half a point on either the Ravens or Texans with five weeks left to go in the season.

Antunes (35-22-3) moved into a first-place tie with Ty Schalter, who went 3-2 in Week 12 and moved to 36-23-1 overall (61 percent). The pair is among 27 contestants overall in the record field of 2,748 who are tied for 46th place, currently the last spot that would earn money in the Super Contest if this were the last week. Since it is not, they can continue chasing the grand prize of more than $1.3 million to be awarded for first place, with Granny’s Boy the latest entry to take the lead with 41.5 points following a 4-0-1 week.

Others in the mix for the 2017 Team OddsShark title include last year’s group champion Frank Schwab, who like Schalter went 3-2 along with Jhenny Andrade and Richard Roeper to round out the top five (in that order). Rising into the top 10 is Dan Lyons after going 3-1-1 while Will Brinson has cracked the top 20 following an impressive 9-1 run the past two weeks. Brinson is one of three team members who went 4-1 in Week 12, with Ben Maggin and Clay Travis also accomplishing the feat. Travis has posted winning marks in each of the last four weeks and ranks 21st in the team standings.

On the flip side, Jason Kirk has suffered through three consecutive losing weeks and is now tied for 10th in the group with Lyons. Kirk went 0-5 in Week 12 after going 1-4 in Week 11, and he started the season as one of the team’s promising newcomers.
