Packers the Most Popular NFL Pick of the 2017 Season for Team OddsShark

Last week, it was the Pittsburgh Steelers who helped most of Team OddsShark earn a win as the group’s most popular play in the SuperContest at the Westgate SuperBook when they upset the Kansas City Chiefs 19-13 as 4.5-point road underdogs. This week, 15 of the 25 team members (60 percent) are banking on the Green Bay Packers to do the same thing as 5.5-point home underdogs when they host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in a key NFC matchup. No Aaron Rodgers? No worries.

Playing without Rodgers due to a broken collarbone, the Packers are viewed by many as having tremendous value to at least cover the spread as home dogs. Backup Brett Hundley takes over and hopes to lead Green Bay to a home win in this spot, although contestants simply need the team to lose by five points or less to pick up a point.

Of the record 2,748 entrants in the SuperContest overall, 803 picked the Pack to cover the number (29 percent) as the second-ranked consensus play behind only the Cincinnati Bengals, who were chosen 810 times (30 percent). Coincidentally, the Bengals are visiting the Steelers as 5.5-point road dogs in an AFC North game.

One Team OddsShark member who is riding with both Green Bay and Cincinnati in Week 7 is current group leader Ty Schalter. After going a perfect 5-0 in Week 6, Schalter catapulted himself into first place atop the team standings with a mark of 21-9. He replaced 2016 group champ Frank Schwab, who is coming off a disappointing 1-4 performance but also has the Packers as one of his five NFL picks in Week 7.

One of the few team members who is not taking Green Bay is UFC ring girl Jhenny Andrade, who has made another similarly colored team one of her plays every week this season. Andrade is sitting in third place in the group standings with a record of 19-11, and the New York Jets have covered for her in each of the past four weeks. They are visiting the Miami Dolphins as 3-point road dogs on Sunday and have won three of the past four road meetings straight up, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.
