Schalter, Antunes Among Nine Who Pick Up Early Wins for Team OddsShark

The second-most popular play for Team OddsShark heading into Week 16 of the world-famous Super Contest at the Westgate SuperBook was the Minnesota Vikings, who were 9-point road favorites visiting the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night. Team OS leaders Ty Schalter and Paulo Antunes were among the eight group members who picked the Vikings before they went on to blank the Packers 16-0 at Lambeau Field.

Minnesota was one of two early winners for nine Team OS members overall, with the Indianapolis Colts also covering the spread as 13.5-point road underdogs visiting the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. The Colts lost 23-16 and had an opportunity to tie the game at the end of the fourth quarter before turning the ball over on downs when quarterback Jacoby Brissett could not get them into the end zone. Newcomer Jason Kirk was the lone entrant for the team who picked Indy while four picked the Ravens.

But the bigger story was the Vikings, who rewarded both Schalter and Antunes with an easy victory going into Sunday’s NFL action. Schalter maintained his lead atop the group standings while Antunes also picked up a key win as they look to become the first set of OddsShark teammates to cash in the Super Contest in the same season.

In addition to Minnesota, Schalter and Antunes each picked the Carolina Panthers as 10-point home faves against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The duo is trying to make a run at the grand prize of more than $1.3 million in the Super Contest, and Schalter moved into a tie for seventh place overall after the Vikings covered the spread.

The top overall pick from Team OddsShark is the New Orleans Saints as 5.5-point chalk hosting the Atlanta Falcons in a pivotal NFC South matchup. Nine of the 25 members (36 percent) picked the Saints compared to just four who rode with the Falcons. Carolina is also tied with Minnesota as the second-most popular play by the team, selected eight times, while the Tennessee Titans (+6.5) and San Francisco 49ers (+4.5) were both chosen by seven members. The Titans host the Los Angeles Rams, who were the top consensus play overall, picked by 766 of the 2,748 entrants (28 percent).
