Schalter, Antunes Battle for Team OS Title, Top 10 Super Contest Finish

For the first time ever, at least two members of Team OddsShark could finish in the money of the world-famous Super Contest at the Westgate SuperBook after Sunday’s Week 17 NFL action. Both Paulo Antunes and Ty Schalter have their eyes not only on winning the team title for the first time this year but also taking home more than $100,000 if they can finish among the top nine places paid out of the top 50 overall.

Antunes currently leads Team OS with 51 points, which also puts him in a tie for 10th in the record field of 2,748 contestants. Schalter is only one point behind him, second in the group and tied for 21st overall, while the ninth-place entrant (The Candiotti Man) has 51.5 heading into Week 17. A third Team OS member – defending group champion Frank Schwab – also has a shot at finishing in the top 50 if he can go 3-2 or better. The current cut-off for the top 50 is 49 points, and Schwab is just below that with 48.5. The lone Team OS member to ever place in the top 50 of the Super Contest was David Fucillo two years ago when he totaled 53 points and finished in a tie for 24th.

As far as the Team OS championship goes, Antunes and Schalter each have the Indianapolis Colts as 3.5-point home favorites hosting the Houston Texans, which made the list of Top 5 consensus picks for Week 17. They are also on opposite sides of an NFC West matchup between the Seattle Seahawks (-9.5) and Arizona Cardinals, with Antunes on the former and Schalter on the latter. The winner of that game may very well earn the group title depending on what happens with their other three picks.

Schwab has the Cardinals in addition to Schalter, and they are two of the five Team OS members riding with Arizona. The group’s top consensus play is the San Francisco 49ers as 3-point road chalk visiting the Los Angeles Rams, with 10 of the 25 members (40 percent) putting their faith in Jimmy Garoppolo and his teammates. The 49ers are also the most popular pick overall for the second time in three weeks, chosen by 1,045 contestants to easily outdistance the Cleveland Browns (+11) and their 666 supporters.
