Schalter Takes Over as Team OddsShark Leader After Going 5-0 in Week 6

Ty Schalter openly admitted he did not like the Week 6 NFL slate in the Super Contest when submitting his picks, saying he had “flip-flopped on all of these plays.” Fortunately for him, he stuck with all the right choices en route to a perfect 5-0 mark, as he moved up to the top spot for Team OddsShark with former leader Frank Schwab going 1-4.

Schalter was tied for second place with newcomer Jason Kirk going into Week 6 but turned in his best performance in two seasons to catapult him into first. Kirk went 2-3 and fell into a tie for seventh with Chicagoans Richard Roeper (3-2) and Sam Panayotovich (4-1), who like Schalter enjoyed winning weeks. A third Chicagoan, Joe Ostrowski, went 4-1 as well to move into sole possession of second place in the group. But Schalter was not the only Team OddsShark member to go 5-0. Kelly Stewart (aka kellyinvegas) joined him and continued her red-hot run that has seen her go 14-5-1 over the past four weeks. Stewart is now in fifth place in the group standings at 18-11-1.

Between Ostrowski and Stewart are a pair of Brazilians who have been especially impressive this season. UFC ring girl Jhenny Andrade posted her fourth winning record in five weeks by going 4-1 along with Paulo Antunes, who works for ESPN Brazil. Andrade is third in the group while Antunes is tied for fourth with Stewart and Schwab. In addition, the UFC’s Jon Anik and Prediction Machine’s Rob Pizzola also went 4-1.

Overall, more than half (13) of the 25 Team OddsShark members went 3-2 or better in Week 6. Kudos to Ryan Fowler (3-2) too for ending his five-week losing skid by putting together his first winning week. Fowler was one of 13 group members who picked the Pittsburgh Steelers as 4.5-point road underdogs against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Steelers handed the Chiefs their first loss of the season, and 11 of the 13 members who selected them among their five NFL plays ended up with a winning mark in Week 6.
