Schalter’s Strong Performance Puts Him Back in Team OS Lead After Week 11

Back-to-back losing weeks for former Team OddsShark leader Paulo Antunes opened the door for Ty Schalter to overtake him with the Super Contest heading into Week 12. Schalter did just that by going an impressive 4-1 in Week 11 following a 34-31 victory for the Atlanta Falcons over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. The Falcons were listed as 2.5-point road underdogs on the Week 11 Super Contest card and needed Seahawks kicker Blair Walsh to miss a potential game-tying field goal from 52 yards out in the closing seconds that would have sent the game to overtime.

Antunes (aka Bossa Nova Kid) went 2-3 after going 1-4 in Week 10 but remains in second place in the team standings with 32 out of a possible 55 points (58 percent). Meanwhile, Schalter is now 1.5 points ahead of him and ranks in a tie for 56th overall in the record field of 2,748 contestants. The top 50 get paid after 17 weeks, with the winner taking home the biggest prize in Super Contest history at more than $1.3 million.

2016 Team OddsShark champ Frank Schwab also had a strong Week 11 with a 4-1 mark, moving into sole possession of third place. Schwab’s lone loss came on the Green Bay Packers as 2-point home dogs versus the Baltimore Ravens. He was one of four team members who lost with the Packers, who were blanked 23-0 by the Ravens.

The six most popular plays for the team in Week 11 all ended up covering the spread, which helped two members earn a perfect record. Pete Prisco and Will Brinson from CBS Sports each went 5-0, and that enabled the latter to move out of the group cellar he shared with Ryan Fowler after Week 10. Brinson used the two top consensus picks – the New England Patriots (-6.5) and Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) – to his advantage while Prisco capped his week with a winner on Atlanta as well. Prisco was 2-8 the previous two weeks but is now tied for 12th in the group standings with Michaela Vernava.
