Super Contest Week 16 Computer Picks

The Odds Shark prediction computer is 44-19 SU the past four weeks as the machine keeps up its momentum in the second half of the season (as it usually does).

But the ATS hasn’t been great, and the selection process for our best five picks for the WestGate Super Contest hasn’t been great either. We were 3-2 in Week 15 and seek out our first 5-0 ATS sweep here in a week with a ton of big home dogs.

New England -10 at NY Jets – computer says 41-13 Patriots | Matchup Stats

The Patriots won 41-13 last week against Miami and the computer predicts the exact same result at the Jets in Week 16.

So even though the Pats are just 3-8 ATS over the past decades as double-digit road chalk, and even though the Jets have never closed as double-digit home dogs, we lay the wood here with the motivated Patriots.

Detroit -6.5 at Chicago – computer says 24-12 Lions | Matchup Stats

The Bears look so bad, and Jimmy Clausen can hardly be the answer against a violent Detroit defense. The Bears are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 home games and the Lions are 7-1-1 ATS in nine recent meetings with their divisional rivals.

The Lions own the league’s best defense, the Bears own the worst.

Indianapolis +3 at Dallas – computer says 32-28 Colts | Matchup Stats

Dallas will have DeMarco Murray nursing a broken hand and the Cowboys are not world-renowned for their crunch-time performances. The Cowboys are just 1-7 ATS in their past eight games as home chalk and the Colts are motivated here and can win outright, just like the computer says.

Arizona +8 at home to Seattle – computer says 25-23 Seahawks | Matchup Stats

It's hard to imagine an 11-3 team being 8-point home underdogs, but the Cardinals are down to their third-string QB and the Seahawks have been ferocious on defense lately.

Still, this is eight points on the road in a crucial divisional battle against an 11-3 team. We have to take the points and agree with the computer, although probably with a lower score. Say 16-10 instead.

Denver -3 at Cincinnati – computer says 31-24 Broncos | Matchup Stats

Cincy destroyed the Browns last week and may be due for a poorly-timed relapse here against Denver. The Broncos are strong as road chalk, while the Bengals have been solid as home dogs.

Expect a quick lead and a failed Bengals rally.
