SuperContest Entrants Fading Jaguars Again in Week 2 of NFL Season

For the second week in a row, a large amount of NFL handicappers in the world-famous SuperContest at the Westgate SuperBook have decided to fade the Jacksonville Jaguars as one of the Top 5 consensus picks hosting the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are listed as 2.5-point road favorites against the Jaguars, and they were chosen by 704 of the record 2,748 entrants (26 percent) in the SuperContest for Week 2.

While Tennessee is the top consensus pick overall, Team OddsShark likes the Pittsburgh Steelers more than any other team on this week’s slate. Of the 25 group members, 11 of them (44 percent) picked the Steelers as 5.5-point home chalk hosting the Minnesota Vikings. Pittsburgh was the second-most selected team overall followed by the Green Bay Packers (+3), New England Patriots (-6.5) and Dallas Cowboys (-2.5).

In addition, the team really likes the Washington Redskins facing the Los Angeles Rams as 2.5-point road dogs, with nine members taking them as well. The Rams and Jaguars are both attempting to improve to 2-0 for the first time in ages, and the public seems to be betting against that happening, especially those entered in the SuperContest.

Group co-leader Ty Schalter is one of the nine who is biting on the Redskins, and he also took the Cleveland Browns (+8), Philadelphia Eagles (+5.5), Denver Broncos (+2.5) and Detroit Lions (+3.5). If you notice a theme there, you’re right that Schalter loves the dogs in Week 2. In Week 1, he went 4-1 with three dogs, the Lions, Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks were his only loss versus the Packers, and this week they are 14-point home chalk in the SuperContest hosting the San Francisco 49ers.

Fellow co-leader Ben Maggin did not take Seattle as a double-digit favorite, but he did pick the Oakland Raiders as 14-point home faves hosting the New York Jets. Maggin went with a nearly opposite approach in hopes of staying atop the team standings, riding with four favorites, including the Carolina Panthers (-7), Los Angeles Chargers (-4) and Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) along with the Raiders. Green Bay is his lone dog.
