Team OS Agrees With SuperContest Top Consensus NFL Pick in Week 1

Bengals Week 1 NFL Betting

After another record-breaking year that saw the Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest award $1.3 million to the winner in 2017 and three members of Team OddsShark take home prize money for finishing among the Top 50 places, 2018 will be even bigger. More than 3,000 entrants will compete in the world’s largest pro football handicapping contest for the first time ever this season, including 21 members of Team OddsShark.

The SuperContest set a new mark of 3,123 entrants at the end of sign-ups on Saturday, meaning there will be more than $4.3 million on the line, paid out to the Top 100 places following Week 17. Last year, there were 2,748 contestants who paid $1,500 per entry.

Bengals Again the Most Popular SuperContest Pick in Week 1

The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off a disappointing 7-9 campaign that saw them lose last year’s season opener 20-0 as 2.5-point home favorites based on the SuperContest lines. But the Bengals were the most selected team by SuperContest entrants in Week 1 a year ago, and they are back in that situation Sunday, only this time as underdogs.

Cincinnati is a 3-point underdog this time around visiting the Indianapolis Colts, with quarterback Andrew Luck set to make his return after missing all of last year following shoulder surgery. There are 1,218 SuperContest participants (39 percent of the field) who are either fading the Colts because they do not believe Luck will perform well here or backing the Bengals simply as the better team. Team OddsShark is following that trend as well, with 11 of the members liking Cincinnati as their top play in Week 1.

Bossa Nova Kid Riding Top Two Consensus Picks

Brazilian reporter Paulo Antunes (aka Bossa Nova Kid) tied for 18th in the SuperContest last year, the best finish ever for any member of Team OS. Antunes was followed by Frank Schwab, who tied for 33rd overall and finished just 1.5 points behind him in the group standings. Both Antunes and Schwab like Cincy over Indy, and that is one of two opinions they share with their five NFL picks in Week 1 of the SuperContest.

Antunes and Schwab are backing the Los Angeles Chargers together too as 3.5-point favorites hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Antunes also likes the Los Angeles Rams as 4-point road chalk against the Oakland Raiders in the second game of the upcoming Monday Night Football doubleheader, and he is not alone. It is worth noting that the Rams are the second-most popular play overall, chosen by 1,052 entrants.
